Domino and Powder are in Goat Paradise

Yesterday I took Domino and Powder to their new home with Kristie and Chris Young of Gig Harbor, WA.  Their place is so nice for goats.  They have a great barn that they built a sweet little stall complete with a sleeping platform.  Their property is 2.5 acres of meadows and forests.  These little goats are soooo happy!  And I'm happy to see that they get such a perfect new home.  Thanks Kristie and Chris!

Bye Blackstrap, Hi Manny!

Blackstrap went to his new home today at Soaring Hearts Farm -- We will miss him, but he looked like he liked his new place and has some fun new friends.  He'll bring some great new genes to Wendy's herd.

Then, we traveled to Whidbey Island to Rancho Amara where we got GingerbRED Man "Manny" and brought him home.  He is so cute and has the very longest red locks.  I've never seen so much fleece on a 3 month old goat.  He will be a great addition to our herd.  He's doing just fine getting used to the yearling wethers, Choco and Oatie.  He's not that much smaller than them.  Once he's used to them, I'll introduce him to the other bigger wethers.  Later on this fall, hopefully, he'll be able to have some rendevous with the ladies :)

Three Musketeers and their Princess

The boys are growing-- about 6 weeks old now.  Pirouette is a couple days older.  They are hard to catch on a photo now because they are bouncing around and running so much of the time.  Baby goats are so fun to watch.  Two of these boys are for sale (the first pick will be chosen next week) for $150 as bucks and $125 as wethers.  Great for new bloodlines to a mini-nubian breeding program, or excellent pets.  I hate to part with them, but I can't keep 'em all!

GingerbRED Man; aka "Manny"

Just got some new photos of our buckling that was born at Rancho Amara on April 11.  He's 8 weeks old now-- that means only 4 weeks left before we get to bring him home!  He is a PCA (Colored Pygora) goat.  He will be our herdsire for our Pygora/PCA goats.  He is just awesome!

This is Manny at a few days old
And here he is at 8 weeks old

He has outstanding Type A fleece (which means very soft, lots of ringlets, and very little coarse guard hair).  He will be bred to Sandie (lovely apricot PCA doe, Type B), Hottie (grey and white Type C pygora with blue eyes), and Nilla (Type A/B white pygora); and possibly Twinkie (white type C pygora).  He's got his work cut out for him.

Madeline and Meringue stick together

Madeline and Meringue, mini-nubian yearlings, left today to start their new life in Morgan, Utah with their new owner, Mark.  They told me that they had to stay together, so Mark agreed and bought both of them.  They will be the foundation does for Mark's new line of mini-nubians.  We are very sad to see them go-- they were the queens of the teeter-totter and all-around great little gals.  They will enjoy an excellent barn and very large pastures to play in with their new friends (and new boyfriend, a 2nd generation buck from Anne Wilson of Berry Patch Farm).  We'll miss you M & M.

Goats LOVE teeter-totters

Earlier this spring we made some teeter totters for the goats.  It took some time for them to figure it out, but now this is their favorite activity.

Starting a blog, due to popular demand

Many people have asked me to start a blog.  I have no idea how to do this, so bear with me.  I guess I'll try to post some photos of our newest additions-- the Three Musketeers, otherwise known as Domino, Blackstrap and Powder.  Sugar, our Nubian doe, had triplet boys (Mini-Nubians) on May 10th.

This is Domino-- the first buckling born.  He has a 4 on this side and a 2 on the other.

How cute is he?

 Here's Blackstrap, the second boy.
He's the biggest boy, and possibly the most mellow.

And this is Powder, he is very unique.  His nickname is "Phantom".

All these guys are so sweet and cuddly.  Don't you wish you could just snuggle?
